Incident: August 7, 2021 On Saturday, August 7th, 2021 at approximately 12:35 AM, the Bakersfield Police Department received an emergency call for service regarding a disturbance in the 2300 block of Brazil Avenue regarding a domestic argument and an adult male subject armed with a firearm, occupying a green Chevrolet pickup. Officers received an additional update that shots had been fired; however, no one had been struck and that the suspect had fled the area in the truck. At 12:56 AM, the Bakersfield Police Department received a report of a subject shooting at a security guard in a subdivision construction site northwest of Panama Lane and Buena Vista Road. The reporting party advised that the suspect was occupying a green Chevrolet pickup. At 2:32 AM, the Bakersfield Police Department received a report that a subject armed with a firearm had arrived at a family member’s residence in the 4500 block of Blossom Valley Lane. The subject was occupying a green Chevrolet pickup. At 2:44 AM, a patrol officer attempted to contact the green Chevrolet pickup, occupied by one adult male, in the 4500 Blossom Valley Lane. The vehicle failed to yield to officers and a short vehicle pursuit occurred. The suspect vehicle became disabled just south of Harris Road and Stine Road after the driver appeared to lose control and struck a barrier wall. An exchange of gunfire between the lone occupant and officers took place at approximately 2:51 AM. The suspect fled over the barrier wall into the backyard of a residence on Autumn Crest Drive. At 2:56 AM, officers received a report that there was a subject hiding in the rear yard of a residence in the 5700 block of Autumn Crest Drive. Officers responded to that location and a second officer involved shooting took place after the subject charged at approaching officers. The initial investigation revealed the suspect’s firearm was discarded in the suspect’s path of flight and was later recovered. In accordance with department protocol and state law the Bakersfield Police Department contacted the California Department of Justice to respond and participate in the investigation.

KCSO confirmed in July that the discoveries were connected, before identifying Bonilla following a 17 News inquiry. According to the coroner, her identity was confirmed through DNA. KCSO has made no indication that he is a suspect in the case.
